So very proud of all of my kids who participated in the USA Tennessee State Championship this past Saturday!! See below to see who came home with hard-earned hardware! (Rillo the traveling team mascot of course made an appearance to faithfully watch the athletes succeed)

My only goal for the athletes who chose to participate was to have fun and make some new friends. It is my philosophy that going to an event with a score in mind or a place in mind has way too much of a chance to take away from the fun of the event. It adds unnecessary pressure to the athlete. Goals are a great addition to an event but they should be goals that encourage and promote success, not ones that can cause stress and performance anxiety. Each one of the athletes who went to State excelled on their own. I was there as a support system and mechanic in case of equipment failures. I can't describe how it made my heart smile to see each one get up on the line to shoot and never once look back to find me. That's my goal as Coach. To prepare you so well that I can fade into the background and watch you shine.
