1) How old does my child have to be to participate?

  • Your child must be at least 6 years old to participate in regular lessons.

  • Your child must be at least 8 years old to be eligible for JOAD, Leagues, Summer Camps, and any other programs.

2) Do I need to have my own equipment?

  • Not at all! I have basic equipment available for trial and Bow Rental is available through Avery Superstore.

3) Do you help with bow selection?

  • Most definitely! I will explain the various types of equipment as well as explain the various pros and cons to each one. I help to steer you clear of equipment that is cheaply made or not likely to last a long time. Once you choose your equipment, I help you through the process of setting everything up to fit you specifically.

4) Can parents join too?

  • Yes! I have a number of families who have participated in lessons and events over the years!

5) Do you offer private lessons?

  • I do offer private lessons. These have very limited availability and may only be purchased under the single lesson option.

6) How many students do you coach at one time?

  • Generally, I try to limit class sizes to around 5 students. This allows students to socialize while still allowing me to provide excellent coaching to each one.

7) Are there any school or college programs?

  • Yes! Archery is up and coming in many school systems and it is growing widely in colleges, both recreational and competitive in nature.

8) Are there any local tournaments?

  • Yes! The Annual TAA Tennessee State Championship is held at Avery Superstore.

  • There are other local events and tournaments within a day’s drive from Memphis.

9) I’m sick or a sibling is sick, can my athlete still attend their lesson?

  • Please stay home for At Least 24 Hours if you, a sibling, or the athlete is sick. As this is my primary source of income, should I get sick, I am out of work for several days. It is also a risk for any other athlete attending that day.

10) Memphis Archery reserves the right to refuse services, without refund for services paid, to any individual who arrives smelling of weed/Marijuana or is suspected to be under the influence of any other drugs, whether prescription or otherwise, or alcohol.
